  • A winter night view from Qinngorput towards Nuuk in Greenland. By Mads Pihl

Christmas Spirit in Nuuk

Spend the holidays in a town that really knows how to do Christmas and New Year’s Eve

Between the classic orange stars we hang in all the windows, the twinkling Christmas trees in every central square and roundabout from city center of Nuuk out to the furthest neighbourhoods, and the snowy winter wonderland we ourselves often mistake for the inside of a snow globe – we basically have cosy winter spirit coming out of our ears. You cannot help but relax and feel joyful.

Can’t wait for Christmas? Celebrate the 4 Sundays of Advent with us!

December in Nuuk just might be the best kept secret for cosy winter getaways. Ever.

Get a much-needed respite from your hectic everyday life by taking a day of indulgence, complete with a hot stone massage and luxury facial. Later take on your favorite wool sweater and grab a warm Caramel Confuso from a local cafe to catch the afternoon sunset in warmth. To finish the day right, book a candlelit dinner paired with a nice red wine overlooking city center to do justice to a day such as this.

On New Year’s Eve get ready for fireworks all evening long. The show starts at 8 in the evening to celebrate midnight in Denmark, and then it continues at midnight to ring in our own new year. And it is not uncommon to get a little mini show or two in between.
