Running of the Moskus

Running of the Moskus – a 5K Fun Run and a Half Marathon race following the Watson River flowing from the Greenland IceCap near beautiful Kangerlussuaq.

The run is a fundraiser for the Qinnguata Atuarfia school in Kangerlussuaq.

The race is truly a Kangerlussuaq community effort. Many local businesses and groups, from tour companies to local artists and craftsmen, to the Kangerlussuaq school’s young student body, helps organize and host the event.

    Kangia Race is an adventure race that is run in teams over three days. The race takes participants all over the Disko Bay area across varied and challenging terrain.

    A trail running race from Oqaatsut to Ilulissat offers different distances, with the main race being about 22 km. But shorter distances are also available. The race starts at noon.

    The Aasiaat Midnight Sun Marathon takes place, as the name suggests, under the midnight sun. The island of Aasiaat does not have many roads to offer, meaning that the marathon route has to be lapped a few times in order to make up the full 42 km.

    The Polar Circle Marathon

    October 25, 2025 - October 26, 2025

    The Polar Circle Marathon is unique in that it is the only marathon in which you can run on Greenland’s IceCap itself. The majority of the course, however, is run on road, which is often covered in snow, due to the race taking place in late October.
