If you are a citizen of a country other than the ones listed above (or do not have a biometric passport where one is required), you can learn about the visa requirements for entering Greenland here.

Greenland is not a member of the EU and the Schengen agreement

A visa to enter Denmark or another Schengen country is not valid for entry into Greenland. Greenland is not a member of the EU and is not a party to the Schengen Agreement. This means that, if you are a citizen of a country with a visa requirement but have a Schengen visa, you still need to apply separately and specifically for permission to enter Greenland.

Special passports

If you have a diplomatic passport, service passport, official passport or special passport, you may qualify as visa-free, even if you are a citizen of a country with a visa requirement. Check the Overview of Travel Documents, Visa Conditions and Border Crossing Points to find out more.

Nordic Citizens

Citizens of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden are free to enter, reside and work in Greenland.

Holders of temporary or permanent residence permits in Denmark

Foreigners with a temporary residence permit in Denmark on the grounds of asylum, family reunification, work, study or au pair, and foreigners with permanent residence permit who require a visa and who want to visit Greenland, must contact the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI) or the Danish Police, and request an entry permit for Greenland.

British citizens after Brexit

UK citizens are visa-free to Denmark and Greenland during the transition period, and will continue to be visa-free after the transition period.
