Dog sled tours
The land around Qasigiannguit are ideal for different types of dog sled tours. The tours can go on flat ice along the land-coast and on lightly hilled terrain. The tours can last from a couple of hours to several days.
The level of difficulty can be described on a scale from 1-3. This means that most people in all ages can join a sled dog trip. You can have a great opportunity to experience the thrilled feeling of getting a close look at the enormous inland ice. In the summertime the sled dogs are relaxing and being prepared for the coming winter season.
Hiking and trekking
Beautiful viewpoints to the icebergs in the water, and in land waterfalls, springs and rockslides and of course signs of the former total cover of the ice cap are exposed. During the hikes a lot of culture and natural history is revealed.
Evidences of the very old Saqqaq culture can be seen around the Qasigiannguit area. People with interest in geology and speleology can have much fun in short as well as longer hikes. Longer hikes – trekking – can be done to the nearest smaller village.
At the local market you may buy fresh fish, meet and berries of the season from hunters and fishermen. Taste the traditional dishes, that has survived for several generations. The local fish factory delivers halibut to all over the world.

Guided city walks will take you trough time from more than 4000 years old Saqqaq culture to the last century of missionaries, when Qasigiannguit was founded, and up till the period when Qasigiannguit was one of the biggest towns in Greenland till now. In the recent times, Qasigiannguit is very well known as the home place of the famous multi-artist Villads Villadsen.
