It is owned by a local operator Lola Christensen, educated in Arctic Guide and Tourism Management in Greenland. Lola was born in Ilulissat but grew up in Nanortalik, South Greenland. She now lives in Ilimanaq with her boyfriend Ove, a hunter and fisherman from Ilimanaq.
Visit Ilimanaq, which is situated above the Arctic Circle – on 69°North, 15 km south of Ilulissat. From the settlement, you have an amazing view of the icebergs floating at Disko Bay, which is also on UNESCO’s world herritage site. If you are lucky, you can also experience whales frolicking at the bay during summer.
You can reach Ilimanaq from Qasigiannguit and Ilulissat (reachable by air). Take a dogsled or snowscooter shuttle from Qasigiannguit during winter. In the summer and autumn, you can reach Ilimanaq by boat or by ferry.
Tasiusaq Northern Arctic Experience offers kaffemiks, settlement walks, meals with a local family, hikes to the abandoned village Avannarliit/ Nordre Huse. You can also meet our Greenlandic sled dogs.
