The Leif Eriksson Marathon is named after the son of the fabled Viking, Erik the Red.
The race’s start and finish are in the settlement Qassiarsuk which rests on the site of Erik the Red’s and Leif Eriksson‘s 10th century farm, Brattahlid.
Now the entire area is deemed UNESCO world heritage.
