Nordlandair
It’s no secret that True Detective Season 4: The Night Country was filmed in Alaska, as well as in Iceland! Throughout the series, there was a hint that it was actually filmed in Iceland, evidenced by the planes of Norlandair. Most people don’t know that you have to fly to Iceland to reach the northernmost part of East Greenland. Norlandair offers flights to Nerlerit Inaat (CNP), which is how you reach Ittoqqortoormiit by plane! Isn’t that topsy turvy? Ittoqqortoormiit is one of the most isolated towns in Greenland, but it also boasts two world titles: being part of the world’s largest fjord system and within the boundaries of the world’s largest national park.
Darkness
The entire season is set at the end of December, meaning darkness dominates the area. During this season in the Arctic, especially far North, you will not see the sun rise. 24 hours of darkness continue for months. But light exists in the deep of Winter. Explore Greenlandic towns illuminated by star, moon and northern lights, offering a beautiful contrast to the surrounding darkness.
