Flightseeing With Air Zafari In East Greenland

Once you experience the country from above you will be thinking that planes and helicopters might have been created so people could go flightseeing.

Aviation was not exactly invented in Greenland, but once you experience the country from above you will be forgiven for thinking that planes and helicopters might just have been created so people could go flightseeing in East Greenland.

Taking off from Kulusuk airport on the small Kulusuk Island near Tasiilaq you are already deep into the backcountry before you pilots takes you to cruising altitude, and if you have spent a week or more hiking, boating, climbing or kayaking across parts of East Greenland you quickly start to appreciate how flying adds a new dimension to seeing the land.

The seemingly neverending ridges along the coastline, deep fjords, glaciers tongues coming right off the Ice Cap, the band of sea ice flowing straight down from the Polar Sea, and the occasional tiny communities give new perspective to what it means when a land is described as rugged, vast, and remote.

So we won’t argue if you suddenly believe that flightseeing appears to be the best way to see anything, anywhere.
