  • Backcountry skiers preapring fro a day in the landscape around the Travellodge Greenland hut in East Greenland. By Mads Pihl

Hut life at the edge of Sermilik Ice Fjord in East Greenland

We know a place out there, behind the mountains, where that end-of-the-world-feeling probably originated from. You get there by spending a day on dog sleds, skis or snowmobiles in winter, and the nearest neighbor is the huge Sermilik Ice Fjord and the northern lights in the night sky.

This place is a little blue hut owned by Arctic Dream, and it is a perfect hideaway for adventurous souls looking for a remote experience within easy reach of Greenland’s largest town Tasiilaq.

Check out some shots from the area, and consider this an essential stopover on a winter trip to East Greenland.
