- The time zone changes on the 25th of March, 2023 when Greenland, as per usual, sets their watches one hour forward to summer time. However, the shift will have an impact in October, when the watches would normally follow Europe and be set back to winter-time, but will instead remain the same.
Times are changing in Greenland. The shift of time zone marks an exciting new beginning, an equal connection to North America and Europe, and an opportunity to slow down in a fast-paced world.
Today, Greenland is divided into four time zones. The regular time zone is UTC -3, while Ittoqqortoormiit in East Greenland has the time zone UTC -1.
The weather station “Danmarkshavn” has the time zone UTC +0, and Pituffik (Thule Air Base) UTC -4.
Confused? We get it.
But actually it is quite simple – check out the map below.
Now most of Greenland is changing its time UTC -3 to UTC -2 and that means that Greenland will have a three hour time difference between both North America and Europe, moving one hour closer to Europe from October.
